Procedures
for DSL IP Setup Pre-Installation Points:

GUS
will provide customers with IP address, Gateway, Subnet Mask, as well
as the DNS number. |
| 2. |
The
following steps are based on Ethernet and TCP/IP technology, for all
common technologies such as Token Ring, FDDI, Novel IPX/SPX, etc.
please contact your network administrator. |

The
Operation System illustrated in the steps is Windows 98, 2nd edition.
Other Operating System may require different steps. |
| 4. |
Network
card should have been installed already at the time of configuration,
if not, please do so immediately. |
Steps:
1.
Right click on Network Neighborhood, a menu will pop up. Choose Properties.

2.
Scroll down the network components to find TCP/IP components. Choose the
TCP/IP with your network card name following it. For example, in this
screen shot, the network card installed on this terminal is called Realtek
RTL8029(AS) PCI Ethernet NIC.

3. Click on IP address, click on Specify an IP address and input the
IP address and Subnet mask.

Click on Gateway, input the gateway address and click on Add.

5.
Click on "DNS configuration" and choose Enable DNS. The hostname can be
anything that the user chooses, the domain name should be gus.net. Input
the Primary DNS number given by GUS into the box and click on Add. Repeat
the step for Secondary DNS.

6. The computer may or may not ask you for your Windows 98 CD, depending
on if the terminal had the CD installed in the C drive. Usually for newer
computers, the system will simply detect the settings and install it by
itself. Note: GUS will provide customer with DNS IP address.
7.
The system will ask to restart the computer, please click on yes.
8.
Open your browser and you should be on-line. If you have auto-dial from
your old PPP account, you can have it disable by going to Tools a Internet
Options a Connection, and dial Never Dial a connection.
