GUS
Networks Launches New PIP Service
Baldwin Park, Calif. (November 12, 1997)---GUS Networks, Inc.
launches its Internet Telephony Solution, PIP (phone/fax over Internet
Protocol Networks) box. This voice-over IP technology significantly
reduces overhead long distance charges for inter-company calls and
other business expenses. PIP, a relatively new IP application, owes
its popularity to an affordable price without compromising clarity.
It handles high-quality, low bandwidth phone/fax transmission over
an existing enterprise IP Network. Its size is as small as a receptor
of cable TV. GUS has developed a state-of-the-art silence suppression
technology that uses bandwidth only in the process of talking and
thus compresses its bandwidth from 64K to 3.2K.
According
to Phillip Lin, Technical Manager of GUS Network, "PIP gateway is
perfect for any multi-site organization that uses a router-based
IP network for both data transmission between sites and inter-company
phone/fax traffic." The PIP Box is indeed the key component if a
corporation has multiple branch offices. The call is made by using
a regular telephone set and dialing a designated number (e.g., 213),
followed by the extension number of the party you are calling (e.g.,
101). All calls are free no matter how long or how many times called.
The company pays only the fixed cost of a PIP Box.
GUS
Network is optimistic about the enterprise IP network and believes
it will be an inevitable trend in the future. It can efficiently
operate an intra-company network. Enterprise IP networks are connected
via frame relay. The PIP box developed by GUS Network has high quality
control and is comparatively inexpensive. GUS Network also provides
excellent services to its customers with its strong technical support
team.
