BRINKMAN
TECHNOLOGIES, HOTPALM.COM AND GUS NETWORKS TEAM UP TO OFFER WIRELESS
BANKING VIA HANDHELD DEVICES
PowerLineTM
Wireless offers anytime/anywhere bill payment, funds transfer
and access to financial accounts
DALLAS,
ATLANTA and LOS ANGELES (Feb. 7, 2001)... Brinkman Technologies
Inc. (BTI), a leading provider of Internet banking, Automated Clearing
House (ACH) and cash management technology and hotpalm.com,
a global provider of mobile commerce solutions, today announced
a joint venture to deliver anytime/anywhere access to various financial
services via wireless devices. BTI and hotpalm.com
have developed and will jointly market PowerLine WirelessTM,
a new financial application accessible from any Wireless Application
Protocol (WAP) enabled device.
PowerLine
WirelessTM gives customers the
ability to view account balances and transactions, pay bills, transfer
funds and reorder checks virtually anywhere using wireless devices.
PowerLine WirelessTM is the first
wireless application to allow customers to transfer funds between
their accounts at PowerLine WirelessTM
client banks and accounts owned at remote banks in the U.S. Customers
will eventually have the ability to view their balances at remote
banks as well.
Later
this year, Powerline WirelessTM
will include Electronic Bill Presentment and Bill Payment (EBPP)
giving banks, utility companies, and wireless service providers
the ability to present their PowerLine WirelessTM
customers with summary billing information. Additionally, Powerline
WirelessTM customers will be able
to pay bills wirelessly via BTI's NextBillTM
"Billing-by-Email" system launched in 1999 and adopted by companies
like Airborne Express (ABF).
BTI
and hotpalm will distribute Powerline WirelessTM
with the help of partner, GUS Networks, a total solutions provider
of Internet products and services. "We are excited to work with
Brinkman Technologies and GUS Networks," said Dan Seernani, hotpalm's
chief operating officer. "BTI is a well respected, technology leader
in the banking industry and GUS Networks' strong international presence
reinforces our global vision and strategy."
"Market
research today indicates that average users of wireless technologies
are young, mobile, affluent and more inclined to adopt services
that are receptive to their mobile lifestyles," said Craig Yarbrough,
BTI's senior vice president of e-Commerce and banking. "PowerLine
WirelessTM gives banks an excellent
opportunity to capture significant portions of this emerging market."
About
Brinkman Technologies, Inc. (BTI)
Brinkman Technologies, Inc. (BTI), founded in 1984, is the pioneer

multi-tasking cash management system operating in a private network
environment. BTI now offers a full suite of services for financial
institutions, including electronic bill presentment and payment
(EBPP), PC and Internet-based corporate cash management, personal
banking, automatic fax statement generation, wireless financial

into its own company. Eagle Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: EBSI) subsequently
invested in NextBill after its largest subsidiary, Tucker Federal
